Toshiba’s TG01 smartphone hits UK next week
By Maggie Holland,
Toshiba’s Windows-powered touch screen smartphone, the TG01, will be officially launched in the UK on Thursday next week.
The company is holding a launch event on 9 July to showcase the new handset, which features a Snapdragon processor, although there is still some debate as to which networks it will run on first.
Many reports have suggested that Orange was touting the device on its network, but the page in question has since been removed. The official network partner in Germany, for example, has been confirmed as O2.
An Orange spokesperson said it could not make any official announcement on network availability, however Toshiba’s event invite suggests just one name will be in the frame, whichever network that turns out to be.
“Be the first to get your hands on the long-awaited TG01 smartphone and find out more from our exclusive network partner,” it said.
