This week, we heard about massive job cuts at Oracle’s European operations, multimillion pound IT contracts to improve local government efficiency, and rumours of a very scary amount of North Korean hackers.

70 - the percentage of enterprises and public sector organisations who were hit by at least one data breach during the past year - a 10 per cent increase on the previous year.

1,000 - the total number of employees Oracle plans to layoff in Europe due to the corrosive effect of the recession on its earnings.

1,000 - the rumoured number of highly-skilled computer hackers employed in a North Korean military unit, according to the Heritage Foundation.

£5.5 million - the cost of a deal between Logicalis and Leicester County Council. Logicalis will provide voice and data management services to over 6,000 users across 300 sites in a bid to improve efficiency.

2.4 billion - the total number of videos viewed on YouTube and Google Video, which was a 58 per cent increase on last year, beating the BBC’s iPlayer to the top spot.
