More woes for O2 as roaming suffers glitch

More O2 customers have lost the use of their mobiles today following a fault with roaming in certain countries.

Global phone networks

O2’s network is down again, this time just for some international customers.

A number of O2 users, including those with the network-exclusive iPhone 3GS, have reported problems with their phones, such as a lack of signal.

This is the second time this week O2 customers have been without full use of their mobiles.

On Wednesday, people lost internet access and MMS abilities due to a problem with the “allocation of IP addresses needed to establish a data connection,” according to O2.

The fault was only fixed yesterday and just a day later customers are facing problems again.

O2 said on its website: “We are aware of an issue currently affecting customers who are roaming in certain countries. We have identified the cause of the problem and are applying a fix which we hope will restore service for these affected customers as soon as possible.”

It added: “We are very sorry for this loss of service. We will post further updates as soon as we have them.”
