Fix for the iPhone flaw coming this weekend
By Jennifer Scott,
A patch to fix the newly revealed iPhone security flaw will be made available this weekend via iTunes.
Mobile operator O2, which has the exclusive selling rights of the iPhone in the UK, has confirmed the software will be available from Saturday.
A spokesperson from the company told the BBC: “"We will be communicating to customers both through the website and proactively. We always recommend our customers update their iPhone with the latest software and this is no different."
The security flaw, allowing hackers to take over people’s iPhones with SMS computer code, was announced at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas yesterday.
The researchers who found it warned that it would only take about two weeks for hackers to develop the software, so Apple needed to act quickly.
IT PRO contacted O2 for further comment but the company did not return our request at the time of publication.
