TalkTalk puts its 40Mbps broadband to the test

TalkTalk is the latest provider to test its high speed broadband, trialling 40Mbps in London and Wales.

Broadband

TalkTalk is trialling 40Mbps fibre broadband in Muswell Hill, London and Whitchurch, Wales.

It will provide TalkTalk customers in the area new routers and modems to deal with the higher speeds as well as providing their broadband packages for free and upping their download limits.

TalkTalk will use BT’s fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) technology, which began trials at the start of July promising speeds of up to 40Mbps to 30,000 homes over the same two locations.

TalkTalk’s trial plans to test upload speeds of 5Mbps in the six months it is running but hopes to reach 10Mbps and 15Mbps if possible.

Along with TalkTalk and BT, Virgin Media is now providing up to 50Mbps broadband to over 12 million homes.
