Questioning

Rumours are rife that Dell and Intel are going to be bringing a tablet PC to market by next year.

It will be a subscription e-reader to rival Amazon’s Kindle, according to Wired.com, whose source is described as a “well-connected industry executive.”

It also reports that the business model will be similar to that of a mobile phone, whereby the user could get the device for free if they subscribed to certain media content.

It is expected to launch in the next six months.

IT PRO contacted Dell and Intel but both companies said they do not comment on rumour.

Dell is not the only company with tablet rumours surrounding it, as murmurs about an Apple tablet being launched before Christmas continuing to grow.

Last week, a report claimed the tablet would link in to the company’s plans to sell albums, appealing to people with the full album cover artwork.
