Third crash for O2 in two weeks

O2’s data network has crashed again for an embarrassing third time in only two weeks.

Phone crash

O2’s data network has crashed yet again, leaving customers unable to access the internet.

The company confirmed it was “having a problem” via its Twitter feed at midday but announced two hours ago that everything was back to normal.

A statement from the company said: “There was a problem with our data network this morning which was impacting internet Services for some customers."

An O2 spokesperson would not offer any more detail on the source of the problem except to say engineers had addressed it and the fault was now fixed.

This is the third time in just two weeks that O2's netowrk has failed.

On 22 July, internet and MMS services went down for a day after a fault related to IP address allocation. This was followed just days later by roaming services crashing leaving many abroad without the use of their phones.

The company is already facing problems this week, with T-Mobile reportedly selling iPhones to its customers in the UK, sneaking around O2’s supposed exclusivity deal with Apple.
