Windows 7 slowly heads to Microsoft subscribers

Windows 7 is now available to download for select Microsoft customers.

Microsoft's next operating system Windows 7 is now available to download for MSDN and TechNet subscribers, in addition to certain volume licence customers.

Demand for the well-reviewed OS has slowed downloads to a crawl, however. Our sister title PC Pro reported its download was "dribbling down in the low tens of Kbits/sec."

One comment on a Microsoft blog said: "Currently downloading with 50-300 kb/sec. Usually I get around 5MB/sec from MSDN. I guess everybody wants it."

Click here for the rest of the roll-out schedule. Retail customers will be able to buy the OS on 22 October.
