Cloud computing and software as a service (SaaS) company Salesforce has posted its best results yet today for its fiscal second quarter.

Revenues for the company shot up by 20 per cent year over year to $316 million (£190 million), with subscription and support revenues rising 22 per cent to $22.6 million.

Marc Benioff, chairman and chief executive of the company, confirmed in a statement that this was the best the company had achieved and on top of that their customer numbers had significantly risen.

He said: “We added 3,900 net new customers, bringing our total to more than 63,000, with our Service Cloud turning in its best quarter ever.”

As a result the company has raised its forward looking figures for the third quarter to revenues between $323 million and $324 million and it expects to achieve between $1.27 billion and $1.28 billion over the year.
