Marks & Spencer tackles checkout fraud
By Asavin Wattanajantra,
Marks & Spencer plans to roll out fraud detection technology at checkouts in all of its stores.
The British retailer will fit Sysrepublic's ‘Secure’ system in all of its 120 stores to better analyse point of sale (PoS) data to detect fraud patterns.
David West, managing director of Sysrepublic, said in a statement that the system would help Marks & Spencer identify the sources of loss that had built up over time, and collate the information needed to investigate.
Marks & Spencer's decision to implement the technology across all its stores comes after a successful two-week trial.
Earlier this year, the retailer dominated an e-retail index thanks to the strength of its online presence.
