Sony Ericsson announces Windows Mobile 6.5-based Xperia X2

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X2 will be released early in the fourth quarter of this year, it was announced today.
It will be the second device to run on Microsoft’s recently announced Windows 6.5 Mobile operating system and will be available exclusively on Vodafone in the UK.
Sumit Malhotra, marketing business manager for Sony Ericsson, said, in a statement: "In the fast-moving world we live in… we constantly rely on our mobile phones as an extension to the office and the XPERIA X2 debuting with Windows Mobile 6.5, allows users to work quickly and efficiently while on the move.”
The phone features SlideView, which gives users an overview of important activities such as email, missed calls and SMS alerts. It also comes with 14 pre-loaded application panels, including Skype and Google, as well as a further 16 available for download.
It has a 3.2in (480x800 pixel) touchscreen, an 8.1 megapixel camera, slide-out QWERTY keybopard and a TV-out cable to hook the device up. There is also 110MB built in memory with a microSD card slot able to support up to 16GB extra memory.
Stephanie Ferguson, general manager of product management at Microsoft, added in a statement: "Windows phones allow people to manage their whole world - from work to home to play - on a single handset.”
