This week we’ve looked at a new browser from Opera, Nokia’s Booklet 3G and a security appliance from Panda.

Nokia Booklet 3G

In something of a David and Goliath scenario, Opera Software, a small company from Norway, is going up against rival browsers from Microsoft, Google and Apple. Of course the company has been around for years and Opera 10 does have some unique and appealing features, but as good as it is, our reviewer thinks it’s going to have a hard time distracting the masses from the mainstream browsers.

It was back in June that Nokia and Intel first announced they were working together. The first fruits of this collaboration is the Nokia Booklet 3G, which Nokia insists isn’t a netbook. It’s certainly not too far off, except the price puts it firmly into notebook territory. Is this the machine that Apple should be making?

The importance of web security can never be underestimated and, for the most part, the Panda GateDefender Performa 9100 does a good job, but as Dave Mitchell discovers, there are chinks in its armour.
