Students get Windows 7 for just £30
By Nicole Kobie,
Students can get their hands on Microsoft's shiny new operating system (OS) Windows 7 for just £30.
The educational preorder kicks off 30 September, ahead of the OS hitting retail shelves on 22 October. The deal applies to upgrade versions, and copies can only be downloaded.
Oddly, Microsoft is offering Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional versions at the exact same £30 price, despite the latter offering additional features and costing more.
In the UK, the upgrade version of Home Premium currently costs £79.99, while the Professional version is priced at £189.99.
Student buyers will need to visit a special site and enter in a valid university email address. The offer lasts until 3 January and applies to UK students only.
