Nortel has unveiled the next piece of its business that it will be putting up for auction.

The company plans to sell its Carrier Networks assets, which come with the development of Next Generation Packet Core network components.

The Packet Core assets are software programmes that support the transfer of data across current wireless networks. It also includes unpatented ideas for future wireless connections and how to transfer data across those connections.

Nortel has been forced to sell off its assets after it filed for bankruptcy in January this year.

Ericsson won the bid for the company's CDMA and LTE wireless assets back in July paying £688 million and Avaya managed to bag its enterprise solutions business last week for £900 million.

As with the previous auctions, any deal will have to get the approval of both the US and Canadian courts before going ahead.
