Storage technology

LaCie and ATTO technology are joining forces to offer storage to IT and digital video customers.

The companies are launching two product pairings, combining [a href="http://www.itpro.co.uk/614407/ibm-releases-enterprise-level-storage-for-mid-tier-businesses" target="_blank"]enterprise storage[a] systems and host adapters with SAS/SATA and Fibre Channel capabilities. The aim is to provide a product suitable for high bandwidth applications such as high definition video editing that has the security of a suitable RAID device.

The first will see the combination of the ATTO ExpressSAS R380 SAS/SATA host adapter combined with LaCie 12big Rack Serial and the second will group the ATTO Celerity FC-42ES Fibre Channel host adapter, and LaCie 12big Rack Fibre storage system.

The first pairing offers 3Gbps SAS speeds with the latter having 500MBps performance. Both options offer the ability of editing several streams of data simultaneously, whilst being well protected with a RAID storage infrastructure.
