O-bit Telecom launches ’Purple Networx’

O-bit Telecom is launching a new voice over IP (VoIP) solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Called Purple Networx, the hosted solution makes use of O-bit’s own broadband and voice network, with dedicated internet access.

Dave Breith, chief executive of O-bit, told IT PRO:”Features within a PBX are so similar but we have differentiated it. Generally carriers buy minutes from soemone else but with us it is on our own network.”

He added: ”BT may have that but the BT networks are split up between lots of departments, making it too big and clunky. But we own the telephone line, internet, IP network and broadband network and truly provide quality.”

The company can provide a hosted PBX for a single user up to a sizeable business. With support for Wi-Fi, mobile phones can also connect to the network and act as a desktop when on the move.

It cuts costs with low international and UK call rates and free calls between business sites or any other companies on Purple Networx, as well as removing roaming charges on a mobile, according to the company.

The solution is available now but Breith said that the company is working on ”phase two development” to deliver mobile solutions over 3G with operational testing happening in the first quarter of the next year.
