The beta for Firefox 3.6 is now available to download, two weeks after first expected.

The beta was delayed a bit because it wasn't compatible with the newly released Windows 7 operating system.

However, at the time the beta date was first announced, Mozilla developers noted they wouldn't be too concerned if the timetable was adjusted. Mozilla's Mike Beltzner said at the time "there is no shame" in delays.

Built on the Gecko 1.9.2 rendering engine, it supports skins called Personas, includes alerts for out-of-date plugins, and allows video to be shown in full screen mode.

It also supports the WOFF font system, as well as the latest versions of CSS, DOM and HTML5. As always, Mozilla promises its latest iteration will be faster and more responsive than the last.
