Acer reports record third quarter results

Acer has reported its best results ever in the third quarter of this year.

PC manufacturer Acer has called its results for the third quarter of 2009 a “historical high".

Revenues hit NT$167.6 billion (£3.14 billion) showing a year-on-year growth of 5.3 per cent.

Operating income also broke previous records, reaching NT$4.75 billion which was equivalent to a 2.2 per cent year-on-year growth.

This has put the company into second place in the PC market on units sold, only lagging behind Dell according to both IDC and Gartner.

Last month, Acer announced it would be launching an Aspire One netbook capable of booting both Windows 7 and Android.
