Intel blamed for iPhone/Windows 7 syncing problems

Intel’s latest chipset is being blamed for syncing problems that users of iPhones with Windows 7 are experiencing.

Syncing problems

Syncing problems between the iPhone and Windows 7 have been blamed on Intel’s latest chipset.

Users have been receiving error messages when trying to sync the iPhone with Microsoft’s new Windows 7 operating system release when using machines with Intel’s P55 chipset, used in motherboards from MSI, Gigabyte and Asus.

Apple’s support forums have received a large number of posts complaining about the issue and the general consensus is that the P55 combined with Windows 7 and iTunes 9 is creating the syncing error – although this has yet to be confirmed.

Extra concern has been raised as the new 27in iMacs are also likely to use the P55 chipsets, which could cause more problems.

A spokesperson from Microsoft told IT PRO that the problem had not been posed directly to the company by users, but it is taking action.

"We reviewed the issue raised on the Apple Discussion Board and are currently investigating,” said the spokesperson. “If we determine this to be a problem specific to Windows 7, we will post an update on the Microsoft Answers site."

We contacted both Apple and Intel for comment, but neither had responded to our request at the time of publication.

Problem Fixed!

Gigabyte was first to solve this with a BIOS update, and today, ASUS released their version. After the BIOS update, everything seems to work as i should! Asus BIOS version 0915.
