Off Duty: Harry Potter on the iPhone
By Maggie Holland,
Calling all Harry Potter fans. You can now pretend you're the wizard himself thanks to an iPhone and iPod Touch app released today by Warner Bros.
The Harry Potter Spells app transforms your device into a magic wand, meaning you can have a duel. With yourself or a friend (via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) depending on whether you're feeling sociable or not.
Some 14 spells are available at launch. The users have to master them before they can use them in a duel. The app also adds a bit more of a role play element by inviting the user to Hogwarts, letting them visit Ollivanders wand shop and being placed into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin thanks to the Sorting Hat.
Users are awarded house points for their efforts, which they can also post to Facebook if they so choose.
The app was developed by MikoishiTM, costs £2.99 and is available now from the Apple App Store.
