Toshiba Portégé R600 Price: £1282 ex. VAT

The Toshiba Portégé R600 has been around for a good year now, and we’re told by Toshiba, is expected to be around for another so we’re still happy to recommend it.

It’s an ultra-portable machine, that’s pretty much the sexiest machine that Toshiba produces. It weighs just 1.2Kg and offers a 12.1in 1,280 x 800 display, integrated 3G, and optical drive.

It’s powered by a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo US9400 and 3GB of RAM – so no slouch for office applications either and with Intel vPro tech for remote management, your IT department will love it as much as you do.

HP ProBook 4510 Price: £497 ex. VAT

Ultra-portables and high design are all very well and good, but if it’s good old fashioned value for money you're after you could do a lot worse than picking up an HP ProBook.

HP has redesigned its standard business machine and these are smart to look at.

In this review model, you get a decent Core 2 Dup processor and a large 15.6in display, and while the resolution is average it helps to keep the cost down. With a range of HP software tools, and a price that comes in under £500 ex. VAT, this is a very practical choice for the business user.
