Xperia X2 delayed until next year?
By Maggie Holland,
The arrival of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 has been pushed back until January next year, leaving those keen to snap one up before Christmas disappointed.
The second in the company's Xperia lineup was due to arrive in the fourth quarter of this year as part of an exclusive deal with Vodafone. However, the mobile operator's website states that it will now be arriving early next year instead.
The X2 was announced back in September to a fanfare of excitement as the handset will come running Windows Mobile 6.5 and sport an eight megapixel camera among other business and consumer-focused features.
“In the fast moving world we live in, the need to stay connected has never been so important. We constantly rely on our mobile phones as an extension to the office and the Xperia X2 debuting with Windows Mobile 6.5, allows users to work quickly and efficiently while on the move," said Sumit Malhotra, marketing business manager at Sony Ericsson, in a statement at the time.
"The Xperia X2 also features a new range of interactive panels as well as SlideView, which provides quick access to frequently used phone activities – perfect for those who need to see any missed incoming activity at a glance.”
IT PRO was impressed when we got our hands on an X2 for a brief first look review but we're still waiting for a final review handset to put the device through its paces properly.
Sony Ericsson had not responded to our request for comment at the time of publication.
