Dell has unveiled the Vostro V13, a new cheap ultra-portable laptop targeted at small businesses.

The Dell Vostro V13 fits into an emerging market space between netbooks and full-sized laptops - called ultra-low voltage (ULV) or consumer ultra-low voltage (CULV).

The 13.3-in Vostro V13 weighs in at 1.59kg, a shade heavier than most netbooks. It has a brushed aluminium exterior, costs £359 excluding VAT, and runs an Intel Core 2 Duo or Celeron ultra-low-voltage processors. It also offers full-drive encryption and runs Windows 7.

Sam Burd, global vice president of SMB at Dell, said in a statement: "This 13in small business laptop is in a category all its own as entrepreneurs now have quality performance, battery life and security combined with a thin and lightweight design sturdy enough for today's business."

The Dell Vostro V13 is available globally from today.
