Motorola unveils Backflip at CES
By Maggie Holland,
Motorola this week unveiled the third handset in its Android lineup.
The Backflip follows in the footsteps of the Dext and Milestone and will hit European shores in the next few months, bringing with it key features such as so-called "social saviness" and the ability to multitask like a smartphone, according to Motorola.
It also boasts a 3.1in screen and five megapixel camera.
With a reverse flip design, users will be able to enjoy multimedia content on the move more easily. A QWERTY keyboard will also help business users and consumers alike keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues through emails, texts, Facebook, Twitter et al.
A touch panel, dubbed Backtrack, appears on the other side of the phone, enabling users to quickly and easily scroll through content without taking up the standard home screen.
“Since introducing our first Motoblur-based device, we’ve remained focused on differentiating the Android experience and bringing it to new carrier partners around the globe,” said Sanjay Jha, co-chief executive of Motorola and chief executive of its mobile devices arm, in a statement.
“Backflip maximises the multi-tasking and multi-functional potential of Motoblur with its unique design elements, making it as smart as it is social.”
