Orange drops N97 Mini
By Maggie Holland,
Orange customers hoping to get their hands on Nokia's N97 Mini handset will be both disappointed and empty handed as the mobile giant has withdrawn the handset from sale.
Some reports have suggested that the slimmed down N97 suffered from a high volume of returns due to faults, but this has not been confirmed by Orange or handset maker Nokia.
"We can confirm that Orange UK will no longer continue to range the N97 Mini as part of its existing handset portfolio," Orange claimed in a statement obtained by Mobile News.
It added: "We remain committed to supporting the device for existing customers and look forward to working with Nokia in the future."
The handset was officially announced back in September last year, following a build up of rumours.
“It's meant for those that define status by Facebook," Nokia’s vice president of markets, Annsi Vanjoki, said at the time.
"It's meant for the people who spend most of their day saying 'I am something' or 'What are you doing?' It's designed for the digitally minded community.”
