First Patch Tuesday of 2010 fixes one bug
By Jennifer Scott,
The first Patch Tuesday of 2010 from Microsoft will see just one bug get wiped out, a stark contrast to patches from recent months.
The single bulletin affecting all editions of Windows has been rated critical by Microsoft when it comes to Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 but is rated low for all other versions including XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Last month’s Patch Tuesday saw six security bulletins needed to fix 12 vulnerabilities across Windows, IE and Office products.
Many are still awaiting for a patch for the DoS vulnerability in the SMB clients of Windows 7 that has been known about since the middle of November last year. However, this has again been missed off the list.
The patch is set to go out on Tuesday 12 January.
