As the Firefox 3.6 RC1 is unleashed onto the web, speculation grows as to when the full version will become available.

Mozilla Firefox

This weekend Mozilla unveiled the release candidate (RC) for its updated version of the Firefox browser.

The company boasts several new features for Firefox 3.6, including improved JavaScript performance, support for HTML5 and changes in third-party software integration.

More than three-quarters of Firefox Add-ons are now compatible with the upgrade, which is available to those using the Firefox 3.6 beta, but Mozilla is still working with developers on full compatibility.

Speculation is now rife as to when the final version will be put out on general release. Hopes were high that it would be released before the end of December but the company came across a bunch of last minute bugs it had to fix first.
