Fujitsu and Sun upgrade SPARC rack-mount server
By Jennifer Scott,
Fujitsu and Sun Microsystems have teamed up to offer a new server aiming to boost processing times by up to 23 per cent.
The SPARC model server is an upgrade of a previous release, the SPARC Enterprise M3000 rack-mount server, featuring a quad-core SPARC64 VII processor which can reach a processing speed of 2.75GHz, faster than the previous 2.52GHz incarnation.
It also has enhanced memory modules, with this latest version featuring 667MHz DDR2 memory.
Available from next month, the server's price will start at £11,500 for the single socket 2U product, which the companies claim is an entry level price tag.
