Linux foundation's CTO moves to Google
By Jennifer Scott,
The Linux Foundation's chief technology officer (CTO) has decided to take up a position at Google after two years in his current role.
Ted T'so, a Linux kernel programmer, was signed up for a two-year assignment that finished in December last year and is his move to work on Google's migration to the Ext4 filesystem has only just been publicly announced.
T'so said in a blog post: “I’m going to be working on kernel, file system, and storage stuff. Ext4 will definitely be one of the first things I’ll be working on.”
He will still be involved with Linux as part of the community, especially with his work at Google, but right now the CTO vacancy at the foundation stands empty.
T'so may have only been in his new job for a week but he is keen to support the company in its threat to pull out of china.
“Although I obviously had nothing to do with Google’s decision vis-a-vis China, having only started working there for a week, I was definitely glad to see it and it made me proud to be able to say that I work there,” he said.
“Kudos to Google’s management team for having made (IMHO) the right decision.”
