IBM has refreshed its server line up this week with the introduction of seven new products.

The new releases complete the company’s System x server line featuring Intel’s latest Xeon 5600 processor and introduce IBM’s memory boosting eX5 chipset technology that it unveiled at CeBIT at the start of the month.

The seven servers include two BladeCenter additions, the HS22 and HS22V, with the latter optimised for virtualised environments claiming to allow an extra 30-50 per cent virtual machines to run on one blade.

There is also the x3500 M3 and x3400 M3 designed as enterprise tower servers, offering double the storage capacity of the previous model whilst reducing power usage.

IBM claimed the two new rack servers have an extra 50 per cent memory capacity as well as an extra 60 per cent internal storage, and the line-up is completed with a new iDataPlex modular servers called the dx360 M3, designed to improve the performance of high performance computing (HPC) by 50 per cent.

All the models are available now.
