The database company, and owners of Sun Microsystems, continue to expand with the acquisition of this database security company.

Deal done

Oracle has confirmed its acquisition of database firewall company Secerno.

Although the deal has been agreed, neither party have announced the amount of money that will exchange hands.

Secerno is known for its database security solutions, with its flagship DataWall product limiting user access and blocking hackers. Its products work both with Oracle’s database and competing brands.

“The Secerno acquisition is in direct response to increasing customer challenges around mitigating database security risk,” said Andrew Mendelsohn, senior vice president of Oracle’s Database Server Technologies, in a statement.

“Together, Oracle’s complete set of database security solutions and Secerno’s technology will provide customers with the ability to safeguard their critical business information.”

If all goes to plan, the companies think the deal will be completed by the end of June.

Steve Hurn, chief executive of Secerno, said in a statement: “Secerno has been providing enterprises and their IT security departments strong assurance that their databases are protected from attacks and breaches.”

“We are excited to bring Secerno’s domain expertise to Oracle, and ensure continuity and success for our current customers, partners and prospects.”
