IBM has announced two storage and server products aimed at mid-sized businesses.

The first product is the IBM System x3620 M3 Express server. Built on Intel’s Xeon architecture, the server is designed for storage-intensive workloads such as processing transactions or video content.

The company claims the Express Server's faster processing speeds and energy efficiency help to reduce cost, while integrated RAID adapters improve availability and memory support.

The second product is IBM's System Storage DS3500 Express. The product claims to offer a midrange technology solution at entry level prices, helping companies deal with rapidly increasing data volumes, as pointed to in recent research.

The DS3500 Express offers Fibre Channel, iSCSI and SAS (serial-attached SCSI) connectivity and allows for a tiered storage offering.

"These new solutions provide growing businesses with a reliable, scalable IT foundation that will help them manage information more effectively and become increasingly agile in the way they work, access resources and support customers," said Ron Kline, IBM’s global director of midmarket marketing, in a statement.

Both products are available now. Prices vary according to capacity.
