Vodafone to rollout Froyo for Nexus One users
By Jennifer Scott,
Vodafone is set to rollout the latest Android update to its Nexus One customers over the next week.
The Android 2.2 mobile operating system – codenamed Froyo – was given to Nexus One customers who had bought their phones directly from Google back in June, but the Vodafone branded devices had been left without.
Now a spokesperson from Vodafone has confirmed to IT PRO it will be coming to customers “over the course of the next week.”
Vodafone sells a number of Android devices, such as the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S, which are 2.2 compatible, but currently only run the 2.1 OS.
However, the spokesperson said there were no plans as of yet to rollout the update,
“At this point we don’t have any specific time scale,” he said, “but manufacturers will be working on [the upgrade] for unlocked versions of the devices.”
“As and when we get the software, we will be testing it ourselves and rolling it out [due course].”
