HTC Desire to get Froyo this weekend
By Jennifer Scott,
Owners of the HTC Desire are set to get a tasty treat this weekend as the latest Android operating system update will be coming to their phones.
HTC has today confirmed the rollout of Android 2.2 – codenamed Froyo – will begin in Europe this weekend, with extra features provided by the manufacturer through the newest iteration of HTC Sense.
“The update will provide 720p video capture, HTC’s App Share widget, as well as our enhanced HTC Caller ID, and improved multi-language keyboard,” said the company.
“Also, through the update, HTC Sync will allow HTC Desire users to sync their music with iTunes.”
However, the rollout will only be available for unlocked handsets initially.
“Operator specific versions of the update are undergoing testing and we expect to make them available in several weeks’ time,” added HTC.
As with all updates of this size, the company suggests using a Wi-Fi connection to download it, else data charges could shoot through the roof.
