Facebook Notes gets greater functionality
By Tom Brewster,
Facebook has revamped its Notes feature to make it simpler for users to edit text and find past notes.
Rather than having to use HTML to make changes to text, users can now take advantage of familiar formatting icons to carry out actions such as bolding, italicising or adding bullet points.
A cleaner layout makes it easier to locate old notes, with a left-hand menu featuring links to notes by the user and ones related to them. Drafts are also saved and can be accessed from the menu, along with options for finding notes on friends or Facebook pages.
“Want to make something bold? You need to know the HTML tag for that. Want to work on an earlier draft? You have to navigate a bunch of links to get to your draft,” said Michael Novati, Facebook software engineer, in a blog post.
“We're changing all of that so it's quicker and easier to create and find your notes and the notes from the people around you.”
Facebook pages can be tagged in notes now as well, while users can look through notes featuring tags made by friends or those who shared using the “everyone” option.
