HP acquires Stratavia for undisclosed amount

Despite putting a lot of effort into a more high profile acquisition, HP has announced it has also managed to acquire Stratavia for an undisclosed sum.

The US based database and application automation firm was founded in 2001 and is now set to become part of HP’s Software and Solutions division.

“As applications and IT environments become increasingly complex, organisations need to automate changes that range from large-scale application updates to simple one-line configuration updates with consistency and control,” said Bill Veghte, executive vice president of Software and Solutions at HP.

“Stratavia’s database and application automation solutions, combined with HP’s leading Business Service Automation portfolio, give organisations a one-stop shop for infrastructure and application deployment management.”

The company will also play its part in HP’s cloud computing strategy going forward, with its automation products designed for this type of environment.

Thor Culverhouse, chief executive (CEO) at Stratavia, claimed this partnership would help companies “minimise downtime and mistakes” through the offerings it would bring to the market.

HP is currently fighting it out with Dell in an acquisition battle for virtualisation storage company 3PAR.
