Google has released the latest version of its browser, Chrome 6, claiming to have “stripped down” the already minimalist program.

The company claimed this latest iteration was three times faster than the first beta, launched two years ago, and had an even simpler user interface.

The two previous menus have now been combined into one, the button locations have been slightly adjusted and the background colour of the browser has been changed in an attempt to be “easier on the eyes.”

However, there is still more to come from the rapidly updated browser.

Brian Rakowski, Chrome product manager, said in a blog post: “We have more in store for Chrome. As always, we’re hard at work on making Chrome even faster, and working on ways to improve graphics performance in the browser through hardware acceleration.”

Chrome 6 is available to download now.
