    O2 pulls Android 2.2 update

It may have only started rolling out yesterday, but O2 has had to pull its Froyo update for the HTC Desire after customers complained it blocked the handset.

O2 has pulled the Android 2.2 update for the HTC Desire a day after its release, following customer complaints it crashed handsets.

Desire users complained on the O2 forums yesterday after installing the update – also known as Froyo. They claimed the update “bricked” their devices, stopping the handset from functioning.

A spokesperson from O2 confirmed to IT PRO the update had now been pulled.

“We did full testing of the update before it was publically released but when it launched we saw some customers were having problems,” they said.

“We take these reports very seriously… and want to make sure we get to the bottom of this before releasing it again.”

O2 is currently working on a fix for the update but the spokesperson could not confirm the timescale for a re-release.
