Citrix has reported revenues of $472 million (£300 million) for the third quarter of 2010.

The impressive figure translates to an 18 per cent rise year on year, with a nine per cent rise attributed to the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region alone.

Mark Templeton, Citrix's president and chief executive, said he was proud of the company’s performance in the quarter.

“It is clear we are at the intersection of three powerful market forces - the transformation of IT to an on-demand service, the consumerisation of IT in the enterprise and the promise of cloud services," he said.

“These trends are driving a need for virtual computing, making Citrix and our platform more relevant and strategic.”

The good results for the quarter have helped Citrix release a positive forecast for the future, with the company expecting revenues in Q4 to be in the region of $500 million to $510 million.
