Dell Streak Android 2.2 rollout by end of November
By Jennifer Scott,
Dell has confirmed it will be rolling out the Android 2.2 mobile operating system to its Streak devices by the end of the month.
The company confirmed the release of the update – codenamed “Froyo” – on its Facebook page and said the UK would be first in line to receive it.
“This is happening over a period of time and staggered by region, starting in the UK,” said the post. “You will receive notification of the update directly on your Streak.”
However, it also warned not everyone is guaranteed to get the update before that first door of the advent calendar is opened in December.
“If you don’t see it before the end of Nov, please be patient as your build may be happening at a later stage,” it read.
The Dell Streak was launched in June this year and, although it got widely positive reviews, the Android 1.6 operating system was seen as the major drawback.
It has been updated to 2.1 already, but the rollout of 2.2 could help the five inch tablet move up the ranks and make more of an impact on the market.
