The iPad 2 launch madness
By Tom Brewster,
In case you didn’t notice, the iPad 2 was made available in the UK today.
It’s been hyped an extraordinary amount – a fact proven by the epic queues seen in London today.
We went down to the Regent Street Apple store to check out what the big deal was and to get involved in the festivities.
Front of the queue
Some people are so obsessed with Apple products they will wait hours. There are a few who will wait an entire day or even more to get their hands on the product first.
Jules Lewis, a 32-year-old Londoner, was the at the front of the pack. He’d been waiting for a massive 32 hours, having settled down at 7.30am on Thursday.
He’d been fourth in line last time and wanted to be number one this time around. Here he is in his sunglasses, with some new friends at the front of the queue.

So why was Lewis so keen to get his hands on the latest iteration of Apple’s tablet?
“The first one was like a revolution in terms of a cross between a computer and a laptop,” he told IT PRO.
“I’ll use it for everything – work and play. It’s a complete device. I’m going to get the bad boy: white, 64GB, 3G and Wi-Fi.”
