Skype fails again
By Jennifer Scott,
Skype has yet again gone down, with little explanation being offered as to why.
Users are reporting issues connecting to the internet phone service, with those affected experiencing problems with calling and messaging contacts.
The Skype Heartbeat website, which lets users know what problems are occurring, has admitted to some issues but not revealed what has caused them.
Skype’s “blogger-in-chief,” Peter Parkes, merely wrote: “A small number of you may have problems signing in to Skype. We're investigating the cause, and hope to have more details to share soon.”
This is the second time Skype has broken in just two weeks, with customers facing similar issues towards the end of May.
IT PRO contacted Skype’s press office to try and find out more details, but it had not returned our request at the time of publication.
The ongoing problems with the service come at a time of big change for the European company. At the beginning of May, Skype was bought for $8.5 billion by software behemoth Microsoft.
The deal is yet to close so Skype’s chief executive, Tony Bates, must be hoping these glitches don’t put off his buyers.
