Zenprise unveils mobile security in the cloud
By Jennifer Scott,
As mobile devices continue to play a bigger role in business, Zenprise has launched a solution to tackle the security aspect using the cloud.
Zencloud offers enterprises a mobile security solution for their smartphones and tablets, enabling them to add new users, install applications and set security policies, all from the public cloud.
The biggest claim though is a 100 per cent service level agreement (SLA), whereby Zenprise promises to reimburse any minute of downtime with a minute of service.
“To protect the entire mobile enterprise, Zenprise has built solutions from the ground up to offer products that are scalable, fault tolerant and resilient,” said Jayaram Bhat, the company's chief executive.
“Since any outage can potentially create security vulnerability, today’s announcement of our new cloud based solution and 100 percent SLA demonstrates our uncompromising level of service and support while backing it up financially.”
However, for those still unsure about having data out of their corporate perimeter, Zenprise is also offering a private cloud-based offering to keep all mobile device management in-house. Using the Zenprise Secure Mobile Gateway, businesses can also block users, ban applications from being installed and stop certain devices accessing the corporate network.
As mobile security heads further under the spotlight, the time is seemingly right for such a product launch. A recent survey from Juniper Research showed less than one in 20 smartphones and tablets were protected by security software. However, it concluded the industry to protect such devices would be worth $3.6 billion (£2.21 billion) by 2016 and was ripe for the picking.
The new offerings support BlackBerry, Apple, Android, Palm and Windows Mobile devices, with the cloud element run on Citrix XenServer. They are available immediately.
