Orange Tahiti

Orange today announced the launch of an own-brand Android tablet, built by Chinese manufacturer Huawei.

The Orange Tahiti comes with a seven-inch screen, a dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB of EMMC storage and a five megapixel camera.

It will run the Android Honeycomb OS too, although some may be disappointed with the lack of Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Tahiti weighs in at just 390g, with a slate black and silver finish.

"We’re pleased to be expanding our portfolio of own-brand devices into tablets for the first time," said Paul Jevons, director of products and devices at Everything Everywhere.

"The Tahiti is a stylish, lightweight device with a great quality screen, which we believe really does offer great value innovation and will help customers to get the most out of their multimedia content whilst on the go."

Prices start at £69.99 on a price plan of £25 per month. It will also be available free on a 24-month Connected contract with the San Francisco II mobile phone from £41 per month.

The former comes with 1GB of anytime date, whilst the latter offers 2GB shared across the tablet and phone.

The first Orange-branded tablet will appear across Orange retail channels this week.
