Bletchley Park appoints new CEO
By Maggie Holland,
Bletchley Park, the home of mammoth code breaking efforts during the second world war and current host to the National Museum of Computing, will get a new leader at the end of this month.
Simon Greenish, who has been with the Bletchley Park Trust since 2006, will be replaced as CEO by Iain Standen, a retired Royal Corps of Signals Colonel.
Over the years, I have followed the progress of Bletchley Park with enormous interest. I am greatly looking forward to taking on the challenge of leading the Trust as it continues its programme of restoration and development as a world-class museum.
Greenish was instrumental in helping turn around the fortunes of the Park and spearheading a recovery programme to raise money for the site and return it to its former glory as a place of national importance.
“The past six years have certainly been challenging but also most rewarding and worthwhile,"Greenish said.
"I have had the privilege of meeting and receiving the support of some extraordinary people. I am pleased to be leaving Bletchley Park in such a greatly improved position compared with its previous situation.”
In the last round of generous grants from industry, back in December 2011, tech giant Google donated £550,000 to Bletchley Park for restoration work. The Google money was awarded shortly after the Trust secured a £4.6 million in Heritage Lottery Fund grant, which was subject to the Park matching the figure through its own research efforts.
“Over the years, I have followed the progress of Bletchley Park with enormous interest," said Standen.
"I am greatly looking forward to taking on the challenge of leading the Trust as it continues its programme of restoration and development as a world-class museum”.
