Consumer electronics giant hails success of new operating system.

Consumer electronics giant Apple has confirmed that OS X Mountain Lion clocked up 3 million sales in just four days, making it the most successful operating system launch in the firm’s history.

The company confirmed the sales figures in a statement released earlier today.

“Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever,” said Phillip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

The latest version reportedly boasts 200 new features , including new notifications and message apps, and improved iCloud integration, and costs just £14.

The new OS went on sale last Wednesday through the Mac App Store.
