Apple has played down the quality of its Apple Maps service, which debuted on the iOS 6 software update and will be the standard navigation service on the iPhone 5, which launched today.
Engineers at Cupertino are working round the clock to address the issues, which have left Apple red-faced.
We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better.
"We launched this new map service knowing that it is a major initiative and we are just getting started with it," Trudy Muller, an Apple spokeswoman told the New York Times.
"We are continuously improving it, and as Maps is a cloud-based solution, the more people use it, the better it will get. We're also working with developers to integrate some of the amazing transit apps in the App Store into iOS Maps."
There have been some humourous glitches on Apple Maps, with the service not able to properly locate towns and landmarks.
It has also been using the wrong names for some towns, which has upset some users, and 3D mapping looks like it has been ported from a mid-90s game in some instances.
In hindsight, it may have been better if Apple had labelled the service as "Beta" to avoid criticism.
