New features aim to make file sharing and storage service more business friendly.
Cloud-based file sharing service Dropbox has introduced a new group admin control console.
The console is designed to help Dropbox for Teams admins manage their groups by setting sharing controls at account level, enforcing two-factor verification and unlinking members' web sessions.
“People at over two million businesses and 95 per cent of Fortune 500 companies are using Dropbox – from law firms working with their clients to internationall businesses staying in sync across the world,” said Emil Ibrishimov, a software engineer at Dropbox.
“Admins will now [be able to] view recent activity, web sessions, linked devices and third-party applications for each member of [their] team, filter [activity] by logins, passwords, apps, devices and members, and generate a downloadable report to give insight into activity for a selected period of time,” said Ibrishimov.
Dropbox has previously come in for criticism from the business world due to security concerns.
However, Terri McClure, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said: “These new features will be a welcome addition for businesses looking to bring the de facto standard for ease of use for consumer file sharing into the workplace.”
