Setting up a Linux server on a Windows network

.
Factory install
All of the big name server vendors, such as HP, Dell and IBM will now pre-install a Linux operating system for customers and in some cases optional applications on their hardware. Most resellers also offer this facility with a choice of distribution, typically one of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) packages or a SuSE Linux Enterprise product although others can be specified if preferred.
A factory install gets you over the first hurdle of getting the server up and running. You'll need to make sure that any optional applications you want to use are included, however, and remember that unless you pay someone else to do it you will need to do some post-install configuration when the hardware arrives on site.
