Quad core launch expected from Intel this week

Intel is expected to announce large scale production of its first quad core processor this week at the Intel Developer Forum.
The two new designs, codenamed Kentsfield for PCs, Clovertown for servers and "Tigerton" for four-processor servers, have already been demonstrated to journalists and plans for volume production are expected to be announced.
Last w3eek a senior Intel executive advised IT PRO that volume production of the chips would begin soon.
Intel is keen to claw back some of the technical advantages it lost toe MAD, which took market share from the chip giant by being first to dual core productions and combination 32/64 bit processors. It is also looking to divert attention from the decision to axe over ten per cent of its workforce in September.
